As Denovali prepares to bring their popular Swingfest back to Essen, Germany (October 2-5), the label has just unleashed a massive sampler ~ and it’s free! Full details of the festival, including ticket information and sampler tracklisting, are included below.

Denovali Swingfest Essen 2014 starts in around four weeks. We’ve just compiled a free download sampler for this year’s event: 26 tracks of the 23 artists performing at the festival. Their sets will as always be as long as a proper club show (around an hour).

After already two very successful festival editions in Berlin and London earlier this year, we’re turning back to our home edition in the city of Essen/Germany with a 4-day-festival in the first weekend of October 2014 featuring Ben Frost, James Holden, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Oval, The Haxan Cloak, Demdike Stare, Hauschka, Bohren und der Club of Gore, Greg Haines, Rafael Anton Irrisari and more.
Mainly conceived as a label festival, we have invited guest musicians, who represent our musical context and influence, right from the beginning of the first festival in 2007. Not limited to one musical genre, Denovali Swingfest offers a diverse range of music styles from darker experimental sounds, ambient, drone, indie and electronica to darkjazz, jazz or piano and string driven modern compositions.
The festival again takes place on 4 days (October 2nd until October 5th 2014) at the wonderful WeststadtHalle. This year’s edition will feature 21 artists on the regular days and a piano pre-event with 2 artists on Thursday October 2nd. Their sets will as always be as long as a proper club concert (around an hour). The ticket preorder has already started.
