Premiere: Nick Schofield & Stefan Christoff – “Generation I”

revessonarcover

ACL is pleased to present this exclusive track from rêves sonores à Montréal, an upcoming duet project by Nick Schofield on electronics & Stefan Christoff on piano to be released by the Howl Arts collective.

A collaboration between  Nick Schofield (electronics) and Stefan Christoff (piano), rêves sonores à Montréal is a series of tonal works exploring not only harmony but the spaces in between.  As always, the music is illustrative of a sense of urgency about the major injustices facing our world, however this release marks something of a shift for Christoff sonically.  The raw material for rêves sonores (sound dreams) is rooted in piano recordings done by Jordan Christoff  on an old upright piano from the early 20th century, on the opposite coast of Canada.  The result still evokes the timbre of the piano, but its tones have been blurred and emphasized, true to the record’s name.
